The Hungarian Communion of Friends holds its annual meeting every August at the Lake Hope State Park in Ohio. For over 30 years this conference has provided intellectual programs in conjunction with an opportunity for a family oriented vacation. The sound and joyful participation of children is a delight to hear and a heartwarming experience for all. The Lake Hope meeting refreshes and recharges our Hungarian spirits for the upcoming year.
Our publications provided the foundation for the organization of community. In 1967, the first newsletter was mailed from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Within a year we began publishing in magazine form to a circulation of several hundred people. In 2004 we changed to the current format of the ITT-OTT Calendar, which includes an annual review of our activities. From time to time we also support the publication of books.
From its beginning we have actively supported charitable activities. Our charitable activities have especially expanded since the decades after the 1989 change in Hungarian government. Examples are: the Hungarian Fulbright Scholarship, the Hungarian Reformed Churches in minority areas of Transylvania, the Hungarian-American Enterprise Scholarship Fund (HAESF), the Transcarpathian Hungarian Teachers' Training College in Beregszasz , as well as Franciscan Brother Bojte Csaba’s orphanages.
